Wake Up With The A's Hitting 5 Home Runs In Game 3 Of The 1989 World Series

Game 3 of the 1989 World Series was the infamous earthquake game, which was postponed, of course, from October 17th to the 27th. The 10-day layoff didn’t slow down the A’s, who were already leading the series two games to none. They hammered five bombs after the series resumed, and nearly just missed having six because Dave Henderson hit a double in the first inning that hit off the top of the wall.

Henderson had been a postseason hero for Boston in 1986, and was inches away from adding a three-homer postseason game to his resume. The two homers for Henderson in Game 3 gave him 7 postseason home runs in 6 postseason series. The A’s went on to win this game and the series, sweeping the Giants in four games to claim their first World Series title since they won their third straight title in 1974.
